bubblesofreflection pt3

Im still in the lecture and we have just created our very own webpage. we wrote in html, brackets, tds, tables, bgcolor, title, hr, a.... we also had Jonathan join our group today. we will work on online identity in 3 case studies of online communities. we will establish the difference between online and real life context.
we will look at concerns regarding virtual identity revolve around the areas of misrepresentation and the effects between on and offline existence. Sexuality and sexual behavior online provide some of the most controversial debate with many concerned about the predatory nature of some users. so there are many interesting angles around which we can approach our project. We are not sure if there is life on mars or venus but one thing is for certain: There is an onlife life out there.

bubblesjustbubbles:Social networking - true friendship?

so , I had a look at what James Randerson from The Guardian Unlimited had to say about networking sites. I'm with him.
hmmm.. sometimes we dont have to take ourselves too seriously, and thats what happens with my profile on websites such as facebook. I often get to throw a sheep at my friends abroad, see I dont tet a tet with them that often anymore and it is nice when they receive my thrown sheep even though we live in different countries and that somehow maintains our friendship in a silly yet smart way, shall I say. Thats where Mr James confuses me a little bit when he talks about people who have people in their "Friends" which they have never met in real life. I am sorry, who does that? I personally know all the people on my facebook profile and although I generally agree with him, we have to correctly identify the various types of site users first and then start analysing them. He talks about the countless acquaintances we collect and then he goes on to imagine that these can become true friendships. Very cyberspace I suppose...

Friendship is something that happens between two or more people that consists of friendly relation or intimacy. A feeling or disposition for that matter...
this can certainly not happen via a screen and a keyboard. As I said, I know all the people on my list. A handful of them are my true loving friends. And the others I simply like, and if them or I someday realise that we can be very good friends... well, lucky us indeed.

hey blogofans, my group and I are so excited to create our very own web resource. We might have to vote for our theme again, but that should be done in class tomorrow morning. The project plan must be accepted by Ng, so we hope he will like it. Naz and Abeer are good girls and I am very happy to work with them. All and sundry will soon reveal their role within the group and go for it! It is zero time people.

bubblesofreflection pt1

I found myself in class after a very boring tube ride. Do you get that sometimes? All times perhaps....? Mr Ng ordered us to have a go at "reflection", which will be the main focus of this blog throuhout the term. No bubbles of bubbles of nonsense then... At least for now.

Reflection:

Reflection is an active process of witnessing one’s own experience in order to take a closer look
at it, sometimes to direct attention to it briefly, but often to explore it in greater depth. This can
be done in the midst of an activity or as an activity in itself. The key to reflection is learning how
to take perspective on one’s own actions and experience—in other words, to examine that
experience rather than just living it. By developing the ability to explore and be curious about our
own experience and actions, we suddenly open up the possibilities of purposeful
learning—derived not from books or experts, but from our work and our lives. This is the
purpose of reflection: to allow the possibility of learning through experience, whether that is the
experience of a meeting, a project, a disaster, a success, a relationship, or any other internal or
external event, before, during or after it has occurred.

Duh!

hello little bloggers, I certainly had a ripper last night but I am all set to work in my group with all my power and dedication. I must say, this module is rather intriguing, especially after jumping the bandwagon of bloggin. Thank you. I enjoy that we can express our thoughts here. So I will:

People, this is our last term, can you believe it? All those wonderful 3 years of our student life fleeeeeeeew by, didn't they? What do you feel when you come into the university building? What are your thoughts when you are climbing the stairs to get to the lecture rooms? Do you feel as if it was almost yesterday when we first got here? I sure feel that way. It is a great feeling, it is not the red wine talking from last night , I promise.

Oh, and here is something that I found in my reading: “In late modernity, we are increasingly engaged in forms of social interaction which are becoming intensely reflexive and open – ended. In this respect, technologies such as the internet are serving to increase the capacity for both reciprocal and non - reciprocal communication.” (Slevin : 2000) Blogging is a playground for writers that exist in a place we call cyberspace: regardless of their location, the practitioners and participants of blogging meet within a digital communication network. Cyberspace here is being used as a synonym for the Internet, which exceeds geographical boundaries, flows freely and unites people from all over the world. Daily, hundreds of sites are being updated to the latest information. If nothing else, weblogs are about personal publishing – people sharing what’s in their gut and backing it up with facts or persuasion.

So last year, eh? Take it by the scruff of the neck, enjoy the remaining time and give it your best. Do you have ants in your pants? Then thats a good thing.
